Life’s Questions

Good morning to you!

Given all of the recent changes, activity and direction that is taking place in the Rio Grande area of downtown Salt Lake City, Utah, my thoughts are turned as I ponder and reflect some of life’s intriguing questions. What does it mean to have unconditional love for all life? How do I increase my own personal awareness to the fact that I see all experiences through the lenses of all of my own personal life experiences and make sometimes unconscious judgments? Am I able to alter my own perceptions of what I’m experiencing and not use my own preconceived notions or stereotypes to interfere with the process?

And seeing in the news all of the violence, hatred, criminal activity, and what I’d categorize as a disregard for life in our community, in our country and in our world.

So I ask myself, am I part of the solution or part of the problem? And if so, how and why?

To me, behavior is not inherent, but learned. We are constantly being flooded with information and we have to not only process it all, but also decide where we stand with the information provided. Do we simply agree with what is presented without doing our own research or vet through our own thought process? Do we feel inclined one way or another based upon our own personal belief system to have an immediate opinion? Or is the information so brand new of a concept to us that we haven’t an opinion whatsoever?

Food for thought, right?

And to me, it’s all about self-awareness. It’s not about being right or being wrong, but what works in our lives for us or what doesn’t work for our lives that we would like to alter. Because doing the same thing over and over expecting different results, is the definition of insanity.

If nothing changes, nothing changes…
